The
Hopeful Series
I
started this neon art project in the middle of the recession 2009-10. Things got a little slow, so I made some pieces that have
been simmering in my head for awhile.
We are
so overwhelmed with images, graphics and advertising that we have become adapt at
filtering the message. This series shows you
can over-filter and lose the message.
All
the neon "signs" are skeleton style. That is, they are all built
of glass...not mounted on plastic. This is the way most window
signs were made "back in the day". This gives them an old
vintage feel. We feel so comfortable with them we have stopped
reading them.
My
intention is to show them in 6 storefront windows to give the
surprise effect I intended. I am currently seeking a gallery or city
venue to exhibit this work. If you are interested please contact Jake@atlanticneon.com
3 of
these signs were recipients of 1st,
2nd & 3rd Place Awards from the NHSA.
